These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Sibyl Private Limited (“Sibyl”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and govern your access to and use of the Dues mobile application and related services (“Dues” or the “App”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using Dues, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1Who we are
Dues is operated by Sibyl Private Limited, a company incorporated in Singapore. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, govern your use of the App.
2Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Dues. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you may use Dues only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf, and a parent or guardian’s consent may be required before you can enter a prize draw or collect a prize. By using Dues, you represent that you meet these requirements, that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that you are not barred from using the App under any applicable law.
3Your account
- You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
- Authentication is handled by our provider, Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly at dpo@duespaid.app if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- You may hold one account for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not share or transfer your account.
4The service
Dues provides a study timer with periodic attention checks, points and streaks, focus scores, leaderboards, a social feed, follows, comments, a points-based rewards programme, and periodic prize draws. We are continually improving Dues and may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. Dues is provided for your personal study and motivation; it is not a substitute for professional, educational, or medical advice, and we do not guarantee any particular academic outcome.
5Session integrity & fair use
Dues’s value depends on honest study tracking. You agree not to:
- circumvent, automate, script, or otherwise falsify attention checks, timers, sessions, focus scores, or any part of the study mechanics;
- use bots, emulators, modified clients, or automation to generate sessions, points, or streaks; or
- exploit bugs, glitches, or errors to gain points, rewards, prize-draw entries, or leaderboard standing you would not otherwise earn.
We may void sessions, adjust or remove points and streaks, void prize-draw entries, reset leaderboard standing, disqualify accounts from draws or promotions, or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe have engaged in such conduct.
6Points, rewards & prize draws
- No monetary value. Points are a feature of the App for tracking and motivation. They are not money, currency, or property, have no cash value, and cannot be purchased, sold, transferred, exchanged for cash, or redeemed except as expressly offered in the App. You hold a limited, personal, revocable licence to use points within Dues.
- No purchases. Dues does not sell points or prize-draw entries and contains no in-app purchases or real-money transactions. Participation is free: points and entries can be earned only through verified study and related in-app activity.
- Adjustments. We may award, withhold, expire, adjust, or revoke points at our reasonable discretion — for example, to correct errors, reflect voided or failed sessions, or address fraud or abuse.
6.1 Prize draws
- Entries are chances, not purchases. Points may be redeemed for entries in periodic prize draws. An entry is a chance to win; it does not guarantee a prize, and your odds depend on the total number of entries in that draw.
- Draw details. The prizes, entry pricing, draw dates, number of winners, and any eligibility conditions for each draw are as published in the App or on our website for that draw, and may differ between schools, terms, and promotions.
- How winners are decided. Winners are selected at random on the published draw date (or, if the draw cannot reasonably be held on that date, as soon as practicable afterwards), in accordance with applicable law — including, where required, drawing before an audience in the presence of an independent scrutineer. Winners will be notified within seven days of the draw. Our determination of winners is final, save for manifest error and subject to applicable law.
- Claiming a prize. We may require winners to verify their identity, age, school enrolment, and other eligibility conditions before a prize is released, and — for winners under 18 — to provide a parent or guardian’s consent. A prize that is not claimed, or for which eligibility cannot be verified, within the period stated for that draw may be forfeited or redrawn.
- Prizes. Prizes are as described for the relevant draw, are not transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Physical products are supplied with the manufacturer’s warranty only, and the manufacturer or merchant — not Sibyl — is responsible for the product itself.
6.2 Changes to rewards & promotions
Rewards, prizes, vouchers, prize draws, and other promotions are goodwill features of Dues, offered at our discretion. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may change, substitute, suspend, modify, or withdraw any reward, prize, voucher, prize draw, or promotion — including entry prices, prize models and specifications, the number of winners, draw dates, and eligibility conditions — at any time and without prior notice. If a stated prize becomes unavailable, we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Changes will not apply to a prize draw for which you have already redeemed entries, except as required by law or to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Promotions may be limited to particular schools, cohorts, periods, or user groups, and nothing requires us to repeat a promotion.
6.3 Rewards liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sibyl is not liable for any loss, damage, cost, or disappointment arising out of or in connection with any reward, prize, voucher, prize draw, or other promotion — including the change, substitution, suspension, or withdrawal of a promotion; your use of, or inability to use, any prize or reward; or the acts, omissions, goods, or services of any third-party merchant, manufacturer, or supplier. Vouchers are subject to the issuing merchant’s terms and may have expiry dates. Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
7Your content & licence
You retain ownership of the content you create in Dues — your posts, comments, notes, profile information, and avatar (“Your Content”). You grant Sibyl a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content solely to operate, provide, and improve Dues (for example, showing your posts in others’ feeds and on leaderboards according to your settings). This licence ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies retained in routine backups for a limited period or as required by law. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not violate these Terms or any law or third-party right.
8Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- post or share content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
- harass, bully, stalk, or harm other users;
- spam, advertise, or use Dues for unauthorised commercial purposes;
- upload viruses or malicious code, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App, other accounts, or our systems;
- reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or copy Dues except as permitted by law; or
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of Dues.
9Moderation, reporting & blocking
You can report posts, comments, or users that you believe violate these Terms, and you can block other users. We may — but are not obliged to — review, moderate, remove, or restrict content, and suspend or terminate accounts, at our discretion. We are not responsible for content posted by users, and views expressed by users are their own.
10Our intellectual property
Dues — including the App, its software, design, the “Dues” name, logos, mascot, and other branding — is owned by Sibyl and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Dues in accordance with these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not use our name, logos, or branding without our prior written permission. Apple, iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and the App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.; Apple is not a sponsor of, and is not involved in, any Dues prize draw or promotion.
11Third-party services
Dues relies on third-party services, including Clerk (authentication), Convex (backend and hosting), Expo, Apple, and Google. Your use of features provided through these services may be subject to their respective terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services. Rewards and prizes fulfilled by merchants or manufacturers are subject to those parties’ terms.
12Apple App Store terms
The following applies if you download Dues from the Apple App Store. These Terms are concluded between you and Sibyl only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App, and any claims relating to the App (including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer-protection claims) are the responsibility of Sibyl, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for addressing any third-party intellectual-property claims relating to the App. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a “terrorist-supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
13Disclaimers
Dues is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that data (including points, streaks, or session records) will always be accurate or preserved, or that the App will meet your expectations. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
14Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sibyl and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or study progress, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Dues — including the points, rewards, and prize-draw programme (see also Section 6.3). To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to Dues will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us to use Dues in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free app, is typically zero) or one hundred Singapore dollars (SGD 100). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
15Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sibyl from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of Dues, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.
16Suspension & termination
You may stop using Dues and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App. On termination, your right to use Dues ends and any unredeemed points lapse; entries you have already redeemed into a draw that has not yet been held remain in that draw, unless they were voided for a breach of Section 5. Provisions that by their nature should survive — including the content licence (to the extent of backups), intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — will survive.
17Changes to the service & these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice. Changes are effective when posted (or on a later stated date). Your continued use of Dues after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the App and delete your account.
18Governing law & disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to Dues, are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence.
19General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Sibyl regarding Dues and supersede any prior agreements.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
